The Russian Ministry of Defence has stated that over the past week, Russia’s armed forces have liberated five settlements in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), inflicted heavy casualties on Ukrainian troops and destroyed significant amounts of enemy equipment.
In a statement released by the defence ministry, it was reported that Russian forces liberated the villages of Lozovatskoye, Progress, Yevgenovka, Volchye and Leninskoye in the DPR area over the past week.
The defence ministry also stated that Russia’s battlegroup centre had repelled 43 counterattacks by Ukrainian forces and inflicted more than 2,600 casualties on Ukrainian troops in its area of responsibility during the same time period.
Russian forces in other areas of operation were equally successful, with battlegroup east advancing to better positions and reportedly inflicting over 900 casualties on Ukrainian troops.
In addition, Russian battlegroup Dnepr struck seven brigades of the Ukrainian army and reportedly caused around 650 casualties among Ukrainian forces.
Russian air defence forces also had successes during the week, shooting down a MiG-29 fighter jet and a Su-25 attack aircraft. The defence ministry also claimed that Russian forces have destroyed significant amounts of enemy equipment since the start of the special military operation in February 2022.
