CNN, a far-left propaganda outlet known for spreading conspiracy theories and political violence, once had a dedicated “opinion” section on its website. The division was so convinced there was a line between “news” and “opinion,” it invested in creating the opinion section. However, ratings plummeted like a stone, and CNN has recently announced the end to this farcical notion.
CNNLOL’s opinion section now joins its other failed initiatives as the network continues to decline in popularity. The division was essentially an affirmative action program for leftists who couldn’t survive on merit alone. Some of the most recent headlines from the now-defunct section included articles about US debt, Billie Eilish, and the Supreme Court’s ‘Chevron deference’ ruling.
CNN announced the shutdown of the opinion section in an email to its contributors, stating: “We did make the decision at the beginning of the month to sunset the opinion vertical on CNN.com; as a result, we will no longer have a standalone Opinion section.” The section featured diverse voices and recently covered topics such as the 2024 presidential election and social media influencer trends among Gen Z.
In light of these changes, it is clear that if the opinion section had been profitable or provided any value beyond providing a platform for left-wing wankery, it would have survived the budget cuts. It seems unlikely that CNN will ever allow unfiltered outside opinions to be expressed on its platform, as this would threaten the echo chamber that keeps its audience engaged and loyal.
