Peskov: Talks with Kiev Possible, But Trust is Lacking

MOSCOW, August 1. In a recent interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda radio, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov discussed the possibility of engaging in dialogue with the Kiev regime but emphasized that there is no trust to be placed in Ukraine’s current rulers.

Peskov stated that while it may be feasible to talk with representatives from the Kiev regime, trusting them remains an impossible task. He highlighted the absence of specific details regarding potential negotiations, and further added that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky lost his legitimacy several months ago. This sentiment was echoed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who provided a comprehensive legal assessment of the situation in Kiev.

Despite these concerns, Peskov reiterated that there is no reason why this lack of trust should impede the commencement of serious negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. Such discussions would not only be beneficial for both countries but also enable the fulfillment of the initial objectives set prior to the commencement of the special military operation.
