Dance, Donate & Support: A Hollywood Extravaganza for Kamala’s 2024 Bid

Hollywood celebrities are set to headline “A Dance Party for Kamala” fundraiser at The Abbey, an iconic West Hollywood gay bar on Thursday. Jesse Tyler Ferguson of Modern Family, Emily in Paris star Ashley Park and RuPaul’s Drag Race star Jinkx Monsoon are among the celebrities expected to attend.

The “dance party” fundraiser aims to support Vice President Kamala Harris’ 2024 presidential campaign. Additional appearances will include former Bachelor star Colton Underwood, Glee actor Darren Criss and singer Betty Who. Further attendees reportedly include fitness influencer Caleb Marshall, internet personalities Dexter Mayfield, Haley Jordan, and Allison Florea as well as Los Angeles City Councilmember Nithya Raman.

The fundraiser is organized by members of Harris’ national finance committee, Todd Hawkins and Justin Mikita, and The Abbey owner Tristan Schukraft. Ticket prices range from $25 for general admission to $10,000 for a chair package which includes access to a pre-reception and reserved table seating for six guests.

Actor Wilson Cruz emphasized the importance of supporting Kamala Harris’ campaign due to her commitment to the LGBTQ community. We need to come together like never before,” he told Advocate magazine.

The fundraiser at an iconic gay bar coincides with a significant event in women’s sports where Imane Khelif, who was disqualified from the International Boxing Association 2023 World Boxing Championships after failing gender-eligibility tests, beat Italian fighter Angela Carini in a boxing match at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The incident has sparked controversy, with some accusing Democrats, including Kamala Harris, of supporting men competing against women in female-only sports.

However, Kamala Harris has previously expressed her support for allowing men to receive taxpayer-funded sex reassignment surgeries while incarcerated as transgender women in women’s prisons. In a statement, she said, “I made sure that they changed the policy in the state of California, so that every transgender inmate in the prison system would have access to the medical care that they desired and need.

In June, Breitbart News reported a male convict living as a woman in a California women’s prison was transferred out of the facility after being indicted for raping a female inmate. The incident further highlights the ongoing debate surrounding transgender athletes competing in female-only sports competitions and raises questions about the safety of women in these spaces.
