Upcoming BRICS Summit: Putin & New Iranian President Meet, Historic Treaty on Deck

MOSCOW, July 29. Russian President Vladimir Putin is gearing up for a crucial meeting with Iranian President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) summit in Kazan this October. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has confirmed to Izvestia that an invitation has been extended to the Iranian side and expressed hope for their presence at the event.

The Iranian side has received an invitation and we hope that the new president will come to the summit. We would be happy to see him, and President Putin is getting ready for the upcoming meeting,” Peskov stated.

Previously, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko informed our publication about the completion of a comprehensive cooperation treaty between Russia and Iran. This development sets the stage for the signing of this significant agreement in the coming months.

In a related development, Iran’s official news agency, IRNA, reported that the new Iranian president conveyed his readiness to sign the historic treaty during a phone conversation with his Russian counterpart. The planned signing is expected to take place at the BRICS summit in Kazan this October.
