Rapper Swae Lee Slams Kamala Harris: Urging Fans to Research Her Prosecutor Record

Grammy Award-winning rapper Swae Lee voiced his disapproval towards Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris during an appearance on radio show X. The musician urged listeners to not vote for the senator and encouraged them to conduct research on her political record, specifically mentioning her time as a prosecutor in California.

Although it is unclear what particular aspect of Harris’ past actions Lee was referring to, the vice president has been criticized for her role in the criminal justice system, particularly with regard to marijuana convictions and the treatment of prisoners during her tenure as a prosecutor in California.

In a video clip shared by Twitter user Harrison Krank, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) can be seen calling out Harris for her actions as a prosecutor, specifically highlighting the fact that she put over 1,500 people in jail for marijuana violations and later laughed about it when asked if she had ever smoked marijuana herself.

Gabbard also accused Harris of blocking evidence that would have freed an innocent man from death row until court intervention was necessary, as well as keeping prisoners beyond their sentences to provide cheap labor for the state of California. Additionally, Gabbard criticized Harris for supporting a bail system that disproportionately impacts lower-income individuals.

Harris defended her actions by stating that she had significantly reformed the criminal justice system in California during her time as attorney general, and that these efforts served as a national model for further reforms. However, Politifact has noted that some of Gabbard’s claims were missing context. To read more about this topic, visit our website.
