Trump Strikes Back: FBI Confirms Rifle Shot at Pennsylvania Rally

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has reportedly confirmed that former President Donald Trump was struck by a bullet during his recent rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Fox News’ Bret Baier wrote on X that the FBI had clarified that Trump had been hit by a bullet, whether whole or fragmented into smaller pieces.

The statement from the agency comes after FBI Director Christopher Wray informed lawmakers there was “some doubt” surrounding whether the former president had been hit by “a bullet or shrapnel.” The FBI’s statement read: “What struck former President Trump in the ear was a bullet, whether whole or fragmented into smaller pieces, fired from the deceased subject’s rifle.

During Wray’s testimony to lawmakers, he stated, “With respect to former President Trump, there’s some question about whether or not it’s a bullet or shrapnel that hit his ear.” The incident occurred when 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire from the rooftop of a nearby building with a direct line of sight to the former president.

FBI Director Christopher Wray appeared before the House Judiciary Committee on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., on July 24, 2024. In his statement to lawmakers, Wray raised questions about whether Trump was hit by a bullet or shrapnel. This led to outlets like Newsweek releasing an article suggesting Trump had only been hit with part of a bullet, titled “Donald Trump Might Not Have Been Shot After All.” The article was later updated with a new title after facing backlash: “Donald Trump May Not Have Been Hit by Bullet, FBI Director Says.

In response to the initial article, former President Trump wrote on Truth Social, “I assume that’s the best apology that we’ll get from Director Wray, but it is fully accepted.

Breitbart News reached out to the FBI for a statement but did not receive a response by the time of publication.
