Trump Leads, Gains Voter Support: Can He Make America Great Again (Again

Former President Donald Trump continues to garner support from registered voters, with a recent New York Times/Siena College poll revealing that 56% believe he will “bring about the right kind of change” for the nation. The former president’s campaign is focused on restoring the economy, creating American jobs, securing the southern border, and preventing World War III.

During his Republican National Convention (RNC) acceptance speech in Milwaukee, Trump emphasized his commitment to being a president for all of America: “I am running to be president for all of America, not half of America, because there is no victory in winning for half of America.

While only 47% of registered voters believe Vice President Kamala Harris will bring the right kind of change, she is ranked as a far less strong leader than Trump. Sixty percent of registered voters regard Trump as a strong leader, while only 46% feel the same about Harris.

The poll also found that Trump leads Harris by two points, suggesting that the vice president may be experiencing a “honeymoon” phase at the beginning of her initial campaign for president. The New York Times/Siena College poll sampled 1,142 registered voters from July 22 to 24, with a margin of error of 3.3 points.

Harris appears to be the de facto nominee for the Democratic party after President Joe Biden stepped aside and endorsed her. A YouGov/the Times poll found that 54% of registered voters believe there was a cover-up of Biden’s health, with 92% saying Harris is “responsible,” at least somewhat, for covering it up.

An Economist/YouGov poll revealed that only 39% of registered independents consider Harris “qualified” to be president. Trump leads Harris in five swing states and is tied with her in Wisconsin, according to an Emerson College Polling/the Hill poll on Thursday.

Arizona: Trump 49%, Harris 44.

Georgia: Trump 48%, Harris 46.

Michigan: Trump 46%, Harris 45.

Pennsylvania: Trump 48%, Harris 46.

Wisconsin: Trump 47%, Harris 47.

As the race for the presidency continues, it remains to be seen how the candidates’ strategies and messaging will impact voter sentiment in the coming months.
