China Stands Firm: No Interference in Sino-Russian Economic Ties

Washington should not interfere with normal economic and trade relations between Beijing and Moscow, a spokesman for China’s embassy in the US told TASS news agency. Liu Pengyu emphasized that “China’s right to engage in normal economic and trade exchanges with all countries, including Russia, on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, should not be undermined.

His statement comes as a response to comments made by an American diplomat who claimed that Beijing was allegedly assisting Moscow’s special military operation in Ukraine through trade support for the Russian defense industry. According to the US, this assistance has destabilizing effects on the region. However, Liu Pengyu dismissed these allegations as baseless.

The spokesman further criticized the United States for its hypocritical stance, calling it “irresponsible” and something that China firmly opposes. He noted that while the US has been providing aid to Ukraine, it has simultaneously made unfounded accusations against China’s normal economic and trade relations with Russia.

Liu Pengyu emphasized that China has consistently maintained an objective and fair stance on the conflict in Ukraine, actively promoting peace talks and facilitating a political resolution. The spokesman reiterated that “We don’t seek selfish gains by fueling the tensions, nor do we provide weaponry to either side.” This statement underscores the importance of maintaining normal economic and trade relations between China and Russia without external interference from other nations, particularly the United States.
