Unmasking Kamala: A Prosecutor’s Questionable Legacy

Vice President Kamala Harris, who has been endorsed by President Joe Biden as his potential replacement in the upcoming 2024 presidential race, has a history of questionable actions and decisions during her tenure as a prosecutor that showcases “collective favoritism to criminal networks and organizations linked to her political allies,” according to Government Accountability Institute (GAI) president Peter Schweizer.

During his Monday appearance on Breitbart News Daily, Schweizer discussed his 2020 book “Profiles in Corruption,” which examined major candidates running for office during that election cycle. The two most significant chapters in the book were devoted to then-candidates Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

Kamala Harris has a massive and long history of I would argue, very frightening activities as a prosecutor that shows collective favoritism to criminal networks and organizations linked to her political allies, while at the same time covering up and trying to minimize some pretty horrific crimes,” Schweizer said.

He cited an example from the early 2000s when Harris was the District Attorney in San Francisco. During her tenure, San Francisco did not prosecute a single case of priest sexual abuse – making it the only major American city without such prosecutions. The reason for this, according to Schweizer, is that the people who helped get her into her position included law firms and individuals who financed her campaigns and represented the Catholic Church and Catholic entities in San Francisco.

Schweitzer noted that when Harris took over the District Attorney role from Terence Hallinan, she dropped a series of cases that had been financially supported by those close to then-San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, with whom she had a romantic relationship before. One significant case involved the Catholic Church, where Hallinan received an 800-page internal document from the diocese in San Francisco highlighting abuse cases. His plan was to prosecute the individuals identified in the report and release the document with victims’ names removed.

However, when Kamala Harris took over as District Attorney, she not only failed to prosecute anyone involved in the scandal but also refused to release the 800-page document. It has been reported that the document disappeared and was never found again. The individuals and entities tied up with this priestly abuse scandal included an elite preparatory school called St. Ignatius College, where prominent Democratic donors like Jerry Brown and the Getty family were involved.

Schweizer argued that as a prosecutor and later as Attorney General of California, Kamala Harris used her position not to protect the vulnerable but rather to protect powerful people who put her in political office.
