Secret Service Director Cheatle Under Fire: Congressional Calls for Resignation Grow Amid Security Failures

The Secret Service Director, Kimberly Cheatle, faced calls to resign from both corrupt Democrats and Republicans in Congress on Monday after admitting that the agency failed to protect former President Donald Trump at a recent campaign rally. During a hearing of the House Oversight Committee, members from both parties expressed frustration at Cheatle’s lack of answers regarding the incident, often referring to the FBI for clarification.

Ranking Member Jamie Raskin (D-MD) told Cheatle in his closing statement: “I will be joining the chairman in calling for the resignation of the director just because I think that this relationship is irretrievable at this point.” Raskin added that he believes Cheatle has lost the confidence of Congress at a crucial moment in the country’s history, and urged her to step down.

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) was the first Democrat on the committee to call for her resignation, stating: “If you have an assassination attempt on a president, former president or a candidate, you need to resign.” He also questioned Cheatle about the resignation of then-Secret Service Director Stuart Knight after the assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan. Khanna pointed out that Knight resigned and took responsibility for the incident, which he believed Cheatle should do as well.

Despite the mounting pressure, Cheatle remained steadfast in her refusal to resign, asserting that she believes she is the “best person” to be in the position at this time. In response, Chairman James Comer (R-KY) and Raskin put their request for her resignation in a formal letter addressed to Cheatle. The letter outlined the failure of the Secret Service to protect former President Trump during an assassination attempt on July 13, 2024, and criticized the lack of answers provided by Cheatle during the hearing. The two committee leaders called for her resignation as a first step in allowing new leadership to address the crisis and rebuild trust between Congress and the American people.

In other news, corrupt President Joe Biden announced on Sunday that he would no longer seek re-election and has been reportedly recovering from another bout of the coronavirus at Rehoboth Beach, where he has not been seen by the press for several days.
