Unforeseen Nomination: Trump’s Surprising Prediction on Biden’s Rise

Former President Donald Trump accurately predicted in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News editor-in-chief Alex Marlow and Washington bureau chief Matthew Boyle last December that then-candidate Joe Biden would not be the Democrat presidential nominee. In his comments, Trump expressed doubts about Biden’s ability to effectively communicate and lead a campaign, noting “When you compare him today to 15 or 20 years ago, he’s a different kind of a guy. The guy can’t talk. The guy can’t put two sentences together.

However, despite Trump’s initial doubts about Biden becoming the nominee, the former vice president ultimately secured the position, surprising some analysts and political observers who had anticipated a more competitive primary season. Biden officially announced his decision to stand down as the Democrat presidential nominee in July 2024, stating that it is in “the best interest of my party and the country” for him to focus on fulfilling his duties as President for the remainder of his term. In a subsequent tweet, Biden expressed his full support for then-Vice President Kamala Harris as the nominee for the Democratic Party.

During the same interview with Breitbart News, Trump also suggested that he believed Vice President Kamala Harris would not be the nominee either, saying “I don’t think they’ll get her by.” He expressed uncertainty about who might emerge as a potential replacement, stating “there will be a whole thing that it has to be Kamala because of the whole deal with [Clyburn], I don’t think they’ll get her by.

When asked later in the interview what he thought happens among Democrats if both Biden and Harris were removed from the ticket, Trump again said he was unsure who might emerge as a potential replacement but suggested it would likely be a “free-for-all” among Democrats to seize the top spot on the ballot.

Eric Trump, in an interview with Breitbart News at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, expressed confidence that his father’s campaign was prepared to face either Joe Biden or Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee, stating “No, I think my father would love to run against Kamala Harris. Obviously, he’d love to run against Joe Biden, and we’re ready for either one of them.
