Surprise Tweet: Biden Withdraws from Race, Endorses Harris

In a surprising turn of events, White House and campaign aides working for President Joe Biden were left in shock after they discovered he had withdrawn from the presidential race via a tweet. According to Politico, one unnamed Democrat stated that staff members were “finding out by tweet” about Biden’s decision not to seek another term as president.

The news was initially shared on Twitter when President Joe Biden announced it, stating that serving as the president of the United States had been “the greatest honor” of his life. However, he believed that withdrawing from the race would be “in the best interest” of his party and the country. In a separate tweet, he offered his full support and endorsement for Vice President Kamala Harris to become the nominee for the Democratic Party.

In his tweet, Biden wrote, “My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today, I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee for our party this year.

Not long after Biden’s initial tweet about not seeking re-election, an email from the Biden-Harris campaign was sent out, urging people to endorse the “100-Days Agenda” of Biden and Harris. Several prominent Democrats, including Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), former President Bill Clinton, and Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), have since issued statements supporting Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee.

This sudden announcement by President Joe Biden has left many in the White House and the Democratic Party scrambling to understand his decision and adjust their strategies accordingly. As the race for the presidency continues, it remains to be seen how this surprising development will impact the candidates and the overall political landscape.
