Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó recently announced that the Hungarian government views NATO’s preparation for a coordinated mission in Ukraine as dangerous and unnecessary. NATO is moving forward with plans for a coordinated mission in Ukraine, a step we view as both dangerous and unnecessary,” Szijjártó wrote. He acknowledged that there exists a range of views among the 31 NATO member nations but noted that Hungary cannot unilaterally halt such programs.
The Hungarian government’s primary objectives at this critical moment in geopolitical history include ensuring that Hungarian soldiers do not participate in this mission, preserving Hungarian territory from conflict, and preventing Hungarian taxpayers’ money from financing the endeavor.
