Holtz Slams Secret Service: Missed Defense Leaves Trump’s Life on a Razor’s Edge

College football coaching legend Lou Holtz expressed his frustration and disbelief at the Secret Service’s failure to prevent the failed assassination attempt on former President Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania over the weekend. Thomas Matthew Crooks wounded Trump in the upper part of his right ear, and was subsequently shot and killed by a Secret Service sniper.

Holtz, speaking to Outkick’s Dan Dakich, criticized the competence of the Secret Service and its leadership, questioning how such a serious oversight could have occurred. The coach emphasized that Trump’s narrow escape from death was purely due to divine intervention and expressed concern over the security measures in place for high-profile figures.

While not endorsing any conspiracy theories surrounding the incident, Holtz dismissed the notion that it may have been an intentional act, stating that if someone had tried to do it intentionally, they could not have messed up worse. The Secret Service has faced backlash over its decision not to place agents on top of a building from which Crooks fired his shots, citing safety concerns due to the sloped roof.

Holtz also highlighted the challenges posed by misinformation disseminated by the media and urged people to focus on seeking truth rather than adhering to political correctness. The Secret Service Director, Kimberley Cheatle, has not yet faced any disciplinary actions or removal for her role in the security arrangements leading up to the assassination attempt.
