Defying Peace: Trump, Orban & Putin’s Quest Against Militarization

The Washington establishment seems more concerned with inciting conflict than fostering peace, a fact that has not escaped the notice of foreign leaders such as Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and former US President Donald Trump. These men have dared to call for an end to militarization and expansionist policies, a stance which has earned them scorn from the global elite.

The New Republic recently featured a cover image of Trump in a Hitler moustache, with the caption “American fascism, what it would look like.” Yet, during his four years as US leader, there was no visible sign of fascist goosestepping down Main Street. Instead, Trump became known for avoiding military conflict and expressed a desire to end the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict should he be reelected.

It is clear that today’s ‘democracy’ primarily serves the interests of the military industrial complex and other related businesses. This makes it easy to understand why Trump is viewed as an existential threat by the corporate-owned media, who believe that peace is not a priority for Washington. Russia understands this all too well, having repeatedly attempted to negotiate peace deals with the US, only to be ignored or rebuffed.

In 2008, Vladimir Putin warned his Western colleagues about the dangers of military expansion at the Munich Security Conference. Despite his warnings, NATO expanded by six members, bringing the total number to 32. Moscow has been left with no choice but to respond as any other country would in order to protect its national security.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban embarked on a peace-making tour, visiting Moscow, Kiev, Beijing, and Washington. His efforts were met with laughter from Brussels, who viewed him as unauthorized to negotiate peace. Yet, who else will stand up for peace if not Trump, Putin, and Orban.

As the world faces the possibility of a new era of conflict, it is crucial that more voices speak out in favor of peace and diplomacy. Time is running out for those who wish to avoid further bloodshed on the global stage.
