Former US President Donald Trump recently praised the United States Secret Service for their swift and effective actions during an attempt on his life at a political rally in Pennsylvania. The suspect, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was killed by Secret Service agents after firing shots that struck Trump, wounding him with a small piece of his ear torn off. Unfortunately, one of Trump’s supporters was also killed in the incident.
Trump expressed gratitude for the protection he received from the Secret Service during the attack, calling it “surreal” and commending their quick response to the situation. He recalled how the agents tackled him hard enough that his shoes fell off. The former president highlighted that he still wanted to continue speaking to his supporters but understood the need for caution in light of the incident.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is currently investigating the details of this attack, with confirmation that Crooks was the identified shooter on July 15th. Meanwhile, the Republican National Committee stated that its national convention planned for Milwaukee would not be canceled or postponed despite the tragic event. Instead, it is expected to go ahead as planned, with Trump being approved as the official Republican candidate in the upcoming presidential election.
