Trump’s Attempted Assassination Ignites Gun Control Debate: Kerr & Curry Speak Out

The recent failed assassination attempt on former President Trump has prompted Team USA’s coach, Steve Kerr, and point guard Steph Curry to push for more gun control measures in the United States. In a quote by Curry to USA Today, he expressed his emotions towards the situation and highlighted the urgent need for stricter gun control laws.

Steve Kerr has been a long-time advocate of gun control. Following the assassination attempt on Trump, Kerr criticized “gun culture” in the US. He said: “It’s such a demoralizing day for our country and it’s yet another example of not only our political division but also our gun culture.” He expressed concern about where this situation may lead due to the existing issues within the country, calling it a “terrible day.

Breitbart News reported that actor John Cleese responded to the failed assassination attempt by pointing the finger at the NRA. Tennessee state Sen. London Lamar (D) expressed hope that this incident would convince Republicans to support gun control measures. She wrote on X, “I wonder will he consider sensible gun laws? Gun violence is too rampant in our country and I hope this situation changes the minds of his followers and Republican lawmakers.

Author Stephen King also chimed in, mocking the Republican party for rejecting efforts to ban the AR-15 rifle. He highlighted that an AR-15 style semi-automatic rifle was used in the Butler shooting, and these are the guns the Republican party and Trump want to protect. Ironically, neither King nor Cleese mentioned that there are 28,144,000 rifles in circulation that are AR-15 or AK-47 style, yet only one of those more than 28 million guns was used in such a heinous manner.
