Trump Taps Marine & Yale Law Grad J.D. Vance as His 2024 VP Candidate: Uniting the America First Movement

Former President Donald Trump officially announced Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) as his 2024 running mate during the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The announcement came amidst Trump’s formal nomination as the Republican presidential candidate.

In a statement on Truth Social, Trump praised Vance for his distinguished career and accomplishments. Vance served honorably in the Marine Corps, graduated from Ohio State University in just two years with Summa Cum Laude honors, and also holds a degree from Yale Law School where he was editor of The Yale Law Journal and president of the Yale Law Veterans Association. His best-selling book “Hillbilly Elegy” gained widespread recognition for its portrayal of the hardworking men and women of America.

Throughout his career, Vance has had significant success in the technology and finance sectors. As Vice President, he will remain focused on supporting American workers and farmers, especially in key battleground states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Minnesota. Trump expressed confidence that Vance would continue to fight for the constitution, stand with the troops, and help him “Make America Great Again” during his campaign.

Vance’s nomination as Vice President has been met with enthusiasm from other prominent Republican figures such as Donald Trump Jr., who highlighted the senator’s exceptional credentials and the unity within the party. Vance, at 39 years old, became an Ohio senator in 2023 and is seen as the natural successor to the America First movement initiated by Trump in 2016.

Breitbart News recently reported that Vance would be a historic vice presidential candidate, being both the first Marine and the first millennial on a major party’s presidential ticket. The urgency for choosing a vice presidential candidate became apparent following an assassination attempt on Trump in 2024.

Other potential candidates under consideration were Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum (R. Vance previously participated in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News in 2021, showcasing his commitment to the conservative cause.
