Unregistered Gun Owners: The Untapped Republican Voting Force

Over ten million gun owners and hunters in America are not registered to vote, a significant number that could sway the November election, according to the New York Post. This group of unregistered voters is particularly crucial for Republicans, as data gathered by pro-voting groups reveal a stark deficit in voter registration among these demographics in key states needed for the GOP to secure a victory.

For instance, there are approximately 515,000 registered gun owners and hunters in Pennsylvania, while Michigan and North Carolina have around 370,000 each who are not registered to vote. In other critical states such as Georgia, Wisconsin, Missouri, and Virginia, more than half a million hunters and gun owners remain unregistered. Arizona has the smallest shortfall, with about 133,000 people in this demographic yet to register to vote.

This issue was also observed during the 2020 election. On October 19, 2020, Breitbart News highlighted rock and roll legend and avid hunter Ted Nugent’s efforts to encourage hunters to participate in voting. In a statement, Nugent emphasized the potential power of Michigan hunters, whom he described as a “conservative army” that could counteract President Joe Biden’s gun control proposals by using their vote instead of weapons. He urged hunters not to sit out the election, warning that doing so would empower those who seek to restrict gun rights and undermine the Second Amendment: “That conservative army, way too many of them, have been sitting it out. And that non-participation has rolled out the welcome mat for the tyrants and the Marxists.
