Biden Brushes Off Age Concerns: Can He Win in 2024

In a recent press conference, President Joe Biden confidently claimed that “no one” and “no poll” is saying he cannot win in 2024, dismissing concerns about his age and potential struggle to secure another term in office. However, former advisor to Barack Obama, David Axelrod, disagrees with this statement, suggesting that the data is showing a vastly different picture.

Axelrod took to social media platform X to express his concern for Biden’s understanding of current polling, stating that if what he said at the press conference was accurate, it appeared that the president’s team had not been honest with him about the information they possess. Axelrod claims that the age issue is a major and possibly insurmountable concern for Biden and that his chances of victory are incredibly slim.

This disagreement between Axelrod and President Biden occurred at the end of a press conference held following the NATO summit in Washington, DC. The event was seen as a critical test for the president to determine if he could handle live, unscripted events after his poorly received debate performance against former President Donald Trump last month.

During the press conference, Biden made a few gaffes, including mistakenly calling Vice President Kamala Harris “Vice President Trump” and earlier in the day referring to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as “President Putin.

Regardless of these errors, President Biden remains confident that he can win against Trump in 2024, despite what polls may suggest. As Axelrod points out, it is crucial for the president’s team to be transparent with him about the data they have on hand so that he can make informed decisions and properly gauge his chances of victory in the upcoming election.
