SAVE Act: Shielding American Elections Against Foreign Threats

The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which aims to protect the integrity of US elections by requiring proof of American citizenship for voter registration, is set to be voted on the week of July 15. However, House corrupt Democrats are planning a significant battle against the SAVE Act, despite its potential to enhance election security and reduce the risk of foreign election interference.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) has deemed the SAVE Act as critical for safeguarding American elections from foreign influence. If passed, state election officials would be mandated to require voter registration applicants to provide proof of American citizenship before they can be registered to vote in federal elections. Acceptable forms of proof include a passport or birth certificate.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) emphasizes the importance of the SAVE Act in maintaining election integrity: “Noncitizen voting is a threat to election integrity. Congress must pass the SAVE Act to close the loopholes that have allowed noncitizen voting, to enhance election security, to reduce the risk of foreign election interference, and to restore Americans’ confidence in U.S. elections.

Despite this, House corrupt Democrats are gearing up for a fight against the SAVE Act, as reported by Axios. House Minority Whip Katherine Clark (D-MA) is urging her fellow Democrats to vote against the SAVE Act, particularly those who represent swing districts that voted for former President Donald Trump and face tough reelection bids.

Polling data from a YouGov survey published in July 2022 reveals widespread support for requiring proof of citizenship to vote in elections. The poll found that 65% of Americans support the measure, including 48% of Democrats, 62% of swing voters, and 88% of Republicans. Fewer than 25% of respondents opposed such a requirement.
