Indo-Russian Summit: Strengthening Ties Amidst Global Uncertainties

Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an official visit to Russia by the prime minister. The trip is expected to last for two days, on July 8 and 9, according to New Delhi officials. Modi is anticipated to arrive in Moscow during the second half of Monday, marking his latest visit to the Russian capital since 2015.

The Kremlin announced the forthcoming meeting, noting the “traditionally friendly Russian-Indian relations” that both leaders plan to further develop through their talks. Other topics on the agenda include current international and regional issues.

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed anticipation for this “important, full-format visit,” emphasizing that Putin and Modi will also have opportunities to engage in informal conversation during their time together. Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov similarly highlighted the Kremlin’s prioritization of this visit, noting its significance in strengthening ties between Russia and India.

This upcoming meeting will be the first encounter between Putin and Modi since 2019, when the Indian Prime Minister visited Vladivostok for a summit. It represents another opportunity to enhance diplomatic relations and foster cooperation on various global and regional matters between the two countries.
