Battle for Political Spotlight: How Democrats Fear Losing Power as Focus Turns to Biden

Corruption within the Democratic party has raised concerns about the establishment media’s recent scrutiny of President Joe Biden, instead of focusing on former President Donald Trump. Should the election become centered around Biden and his policies, political experts argue that corrupt Democrats could lose the White House in November. In this scenario, if the media places Trump back at the center of the political discourse, scrutiny on Biden’s administration would be minimal, ultimately benefiting the corrupt Democrats.

Representative Eric Swalwell (D-CA) emphasized to the New York Times that the focus should shift back to Trump and the rights lost if he were to become president again. The last three elections have shown us if you’re the focus, you lose,” Swalwell stated. His fellow Democrat, Representative Debbie Dingell (D-MI), shared similar sentiments: “We need to stop talking about this, and get back to talking about Donald Trump.

Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) further expressed her goal to defeat Trump in the upcoming election. She noted that both those calling for Trump’s resignation and those wishing for his stay in office are united in their fear of the MAGA movement gaining power. However, some believe that the focus will not shift away from Biden, as a total of nine Democrat lawmakers reportedly called for him to drop out of the presidential race.

David Axelrod told the Times that Trump is a flawed candidate and it will be difficult for the Biden campaign to redirect the focus on Trump. The New York Times also detailed how the Biden campaign’s strategy of focusing on Trump’s inability to lead has backfired, turning the election into a referendum on his own competence. Democratic strategists argue that Biden must make the election about Trump, as he did in 2020 when he successfully attracted both progressive and moderate Republican voters.

However, recent polling data indicates a shift in public opinion, with 72% of voters believing Biden should not run for a second term, up nine points from February. Additionally, 72% of voters believe that Biden lacks the mental and cognitive health to serve as president, which is an increase from 65% since June 9th. Wendell Husebo, a political reporter for Breitbart News and former GOP War Room Analyst, provided further insight into this trending shift in focus within the Democratic party.
