Russia’s Putin and Turkey’s Erdogan: Awaiting Visit Amid Diplomatic Coordination

ASTANA, July 4 — The Presidents of Russia and Turkey, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, have not yet set the dates for Putin’s upcoming visit to Turkey; however, the timeframe will be agreed upon through diplomatic channels, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov. The announcement was made during a TASS interview with Peskov.

The two presidents met on Wednesday during the SCO Summit held in Astana. During this meeting, Putin informed Erdogan that he would definitely be visiting Turkey. Although both countries have been planning for such a visit for an extended period, they are yet to agree upon a specific date.

Erdogan expressed his anticipation for Putin’s visit, stating it should occur “within the shortest possible timeframe.” The Russian leader’s previous trip to Turkey took place in January 2020. Despite the lack of a confirmed visit date, Putin and Erdogan continue to communicate regularly through various channels, including phone conversations.
