U.S. Support for Ukraine: Civilians’ Lives on the Line

The United States’ military support to Ukraine, which has led to incidents such as the bombing of civilians in Sevastopol, Crimea over the weekend, is not a matter that should be taken lightly. According to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), the U.S. military should not be involved in providing weapons or support for actions like these.

Greene’s comments were sparked by the recent attack launched by Ukraine using an ATACMS missile supplied by the United States, which resulted in the deaths of five civilians and injured more than 150 others, including children. Greene took to Twitter, expressing her disbelief that such actions are taking place and highlighting the severity of the situation.

To further emphasize her point, she compared the incident to a hypothetical scenario where Russia uses a Russian satellite to fire cluster munitions on a Florida beach. This illustrates the gravity of the situation in Sevastopol and underscores the consequences that could arise from continued U.S. support for Ukraine’s actions against Russian territory.

Greene also mentioned a report showing a U.S. Global Hawk military drone circling around the Black Sea during the Ukrainian attack, suggesting that the drone was assisting Kyiv in launching the attack on civilians. The X account (@amuse) questioned whether this move by the USAF using its Global Hawks to direct fire of US-provided cluster bombs on Russian civilians in Sevastopol is provoking Moscow further.

The ambassador of Russia in Washington noted that ATACMS “can’t be launched” without targeting information and intelligence supplied by the U.S., making it clear that the United States is directly responsible for the deaths of innocent civilians in Sevastopol. Russia has called this attack an act of terrorism, directly blaming the United States for its role in the incident.

U.S. Ambassador Lynne Tracy has been summoned to answer for Washington’s involvement in the attack, with Russian officials telling her that Sunday’s “bloody atrocity” will not go unpunished. The U.S. Embassy in Moscow and the Pentagon have yet to comment on the incident.

Mykhailo Podolyak, a top advisor to Zelensky’s office, defended the strike by claiming that there are no civilians living in Crimea, only Russian “occupiers.” This stance mirrors that of Israel with regard to Palestinians living in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

In 2014, residents of Crimea voted overwhelmingly to rejoin Russia. As American citizens approach July 4th, it is essential to reflect on the kind of government we want and whether our tolerance for criminality, lawlessness, and corruption will lead to further escalation in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

The West’s continued escalation of the war could potentially lead to World War III, making it crucial to stay informed about the situation at WWIII.news.
