Mayorkas’ CBP One App: Easing US Immigration or Inviting Unregulated Surge

The Biden administration has taken a step further to facilitate migration into the United States by allowing caught and deported individuals to use the “CBP One” cellphone app to gain permission to re-enter the country. This announcement was made by border czar Alejandro Mayorkas at his Tucson press conference on June 26th, which raised concerns among critics who argue that this move could lead to a massive influx of people into the country without proper checks and balances.

The “CBP One” app allows migrants to request entry into the United States via an official gate, dubbed a “Port of Entry.” Mayorkas’ deputies have been using this app as part of their efforts to make it easier for people from other countries to come to work in the US, even on a seasonal or temporary basis. Critics argue that this approach undermines the need for proper immigration checks and may lead to a surge in unauthorized migration.

Mayorkas has defended his policies by stating that the current legal immigration system is not designed to meet the needs of employers in the US. He argues that individuals from other countries want to come here to work, earn money, and support their families back home. By allowing these individuals to come to the US legally, they can contribute to our economy and help address the root causes of why people travel irregularly in the first place.

However, critics argue that Mayorkas’ policies amount to a form of “Extraction Migration,” which extracts vast amounts of human resources from needy countries to boost stock values and inflate the overall size of the US economy with extra consumers, renters, and workers. This policy has been criticized for pushing many native-born Americans out of careers in various business sectors, reducing Americans’ productivity and political clout, slowing high-tech innovation, shrinking trade, crippling civic solidarity, and incentivizing government officials and progressives to ignore the rising death rate of discarded low-status Americans.

In summary, while Mayorkas’ policies aim to help individuals from other countries come to work in the US legally, critics argue that this approach may lead to a surge in unauthorized migration and undermines the need for proper immigration checks. The “Extraction Migration” policy has been criticized for its potential negative impact on Americans’ productivity, political clout, and overall quality of life.
