The Biden-Trump Showdown: Corruption and Conflicts of Interest Collide

President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump engaged in a fiery debate on Thursday night over the latter’s alleged corruption and conflicts of interest. During their exchange, Biden went after Trump for his criminal activity, pointing out that “the only person on this stage who is a convicted felon” is Trump himself.

Trump responded by attacking Biden’s son Hunter, who was also involved in some questionable business dealings overseas. He suggested that Biden may be a future convict as well due to his own alleged criminal activity.

The exchange came while the moderator Jake Tapper asked Trump about his past statements on using his political power to go after his opponents, specifically referencing Hunter Biden’s business dealings in Ukraine and China.

Trump defended himself by pointing out that Hunter should have been convicted of crimes before, but the previous Justice Department under Barack Obama allowed the statute of limitations to expire on some of the most important charges against him.

He then suggested that Biden could be a future felon once he leaves office for his own alleged corruption.

Trump has repeatedly slammed the business records case brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg as “election interference” and said in May that “It all comes out of Washington.

He told reporters outside the courthouse on May 10, “I’m sure you know that.

Sentencing for the case is set for July 11, just days before the Republican National Convention.
