Trump 2024: Free Pro-Life Activists, Create Anti-Bias Task Force

Donald Trump has vowed to free pro-life activists who were imprisoned by the former president Joe Biden’s administration, if he wins another term in office. He also pledged to create a federal task force to investigate anti-Christian bias and other illegal discrimination against people of faith.

In 2023, Trump promised to create a task force if reelected to review and potentially pardon or commute the sentences of every “political prisoner who’s been unjustly persecuted by the Biden administration.

At an event organized by Faith and Freedom Coalition in June 2024, Trump specifically mentioned the case of Paulette Harlow, a pro-life activist sentenced to 24 months in prison for violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act and for “conspiracy against rights” in a 2020 protest at a D.C. abortion clinic infamous for late-term abortions.

Harlow, who had been on house arrest due to her ill health before being sentenced, suffered from a range of health issues and her defense attorney said that prison could be detrimental to her condition. Harlow’s sentence was handed down months after other defendants in the same case were released without charge.

Trump also criticized the Biden administration for persecuting Christians and Catholics, and promised to create a federal task force to investigate anti-Christian bias and other illegal discrimination against people of faith. He said he would protect Christians in schools, military, government, workplaces, hospitals, and public square.

The pro-life activist community has long accused former President Joe Biden of targeting peaceful protesters and supporters of the pro-life cause. In recent years, several activists have been sentenced to prison time for violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act and other charges related to anti-abortion protests.

Trump’s comments came at an event organized by Faith and Freedom Coalition in June 2024, where he also said that he would “get those people out of jail” if reelected.

We will protect Christians in our schools, in our military, in our government, in our workplaces, in our hospitals, and in our public square,” Trump said. We’re going to create a federal task force to investigate anti-Christian bias and other illegal discrimination against people of faith.
