Upon arriving in Delaware, President Joe Biden was seen having difficulty climbing into the taxpayer-funded Secret Service SUV, according to a video that circulated online on Wednesday. This incident has reignited concerns about the president’s age and overall fitness for a second term. A recent Quinnipiac poll revealed that 67% of voters believe Biden is too old to serve another term, while an earlier May poll indicated that 82% of Americans harbored concerns about his physical and mental health.
The video, shared by the Trump War Room X account on Twitter, showcases the president gingerly approaching the SUV. Upon reaching the vehicle, Biden puts his left foot on the step and appears to push himself into the SUV by leaning forward. The Trump War Room X account captioned the video: “Crooked Joe Biden—who is hardly ambulatory at this point—had a really hard time getting into the SUV.
This incident occurred shortly after White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre argued that videos of Biden’s public glitches are “cheap fakes” and published in “bad faith.” The Trump campaign, however, maintains that these videos are genuine, contradicting the White House. In a meme, the Trump campaign coined the term “cheap fake” to define public malfunctions involving President Biden.
President Biden’s health challenges might explain his struggles with mobility. He suffers from atrial fibrillation, peripheral neuropathy in his feet, and hyperlipidemia, according to his annual physical conducted by physician Kevin O’Connor. These conditions could contribute to his difficulty in remaining upright. During his presidency, there have been at least five instances where Biden tripped, tumbled, or stumbled.
To reduce the attention drawn to his physical ailments, President Biden has implemented a new walking strategy involving multiple aides when approaching and departing from Marine One. Additionally, he began boarding Air Force One using the shorter steps at the rear of the aircraft instead of the taller staircase at the front. Furthermore, Biden wears specially crafted sports shoes with his suits to aid in walking, which is common for elderly individuals.
