Clinton’s Tony Address: Voting Matters

Hillary Clinton, aged 76, expressed pride in being part of the production of the musical Suffs, which she is credited as having co-produced. Upon taking the stage, she introduced a musical number from the cast, calling it “an extremely proud moment for me.

She used her surprise appearance at the Tony Awards to emphasize the significance of voting in the United States, especially during an election year. Clinton mentioned that Suffs tells the story of American suffragists who fought tirelessly to secure women’s right to vote. She urged the audience not to forget the importance of voting in the current political climate.

The former first lady received a standing ovation for her speech, which highlighted the importance of the musical and its themes. Suffs, a production centered around the women’s movement and their “unwavering pursuit of the right to vote,” won two Tony Awards for best original score and best book of a musical.
