Former US President Donald Trump has pledged that if re-elected this November, he will defund schools promoting “inappropriate” content to children such as gender identity and critical race theory. He also promised to strip federal funding from schools mandating vaccines and masks, as well as banning men from participating in women’s sports.
Speaking at Turning Point Action’s ‘The People’s Convention’ in Michigan on Saturday, Trump announced that he will sign an executive order on his first day in office to cut federal funding for any school pushing critical race theory, transgender ideology, and other “inappropriate” content into the lives of children.
I will not give one penny to any school that has a vaccine mandate or a mask mandate,” Trump continued, pledging to “keep men out of women’s sports” and fully upholding the Second Amendment, which safeguards the right of Americans to bear arms.
We will protect innocent lives, and we will restore a thing called free speech as it is being taken away from us by these radical thugs,” he added, having received the National Rifle Association’s full endorsement for his presidential campaign.
Education is one of Trump’s main priorities in this election cycle, with the former president calling for an overhaul of the system and proposing plans to “break up” the Department of Education, change the school curriculum, and allow school principals to be elected. He accuses Democrats of pushing a “liberal indoctrination of America’s youth,” vowing to reverse new expansions by President Joe Biden’s administration under Title IX – which restricts federally funded schools from preventing transgender students from using bathrooms, locker rooms, and pronouns aligned with their identities.
Trump also pledged to block doctors who provide gender-affirming care for minors and forbidding federal agencies from promoting “the concept of sex and gender transition at any age.” In a January video address, he described the left-wing gender insanity being pushed on children as an act of child abuse, outlining policies designed to curb the promotion of the LGBTQ agenda.
