In addition to the emails revealing Hunter Biden’s role in organizing a legal defense strategy for Burisma, the newly released documents show that he played an instrumental role in landing the retainer agreement for Boies Schiller Flexner (BSF) by leveraging his position as an incoming board member for the energy company.
Hunter Biden made clear in an email that he did not want any of the money paid to BSF by Burisma to be tracked back to him, stating “I don’t receive any economics from this.” Despite this, the emails make it evident that Hunter Biden played a significant role in organizing the law firm relationship while taking on a fiduciary role as a board member at Burisma.
The newly released documents also reveal that former Vice President Joe Biden was aware of his son’s involvement with Burisma. In an email to his son, Joe Biden discussed the potential political ramifications of Hunter’s position on the company’s board.
As part of BSF’s legal defense strategy for Burisma, it was outlined that meetings should be arranged with U.S. officials in Washington D.C., who were leading U.S. policy related to Ukraine, in order to emphasize the significance of the energy company to the future of Ukraine. This plan would later be implemented by the Burisma team.
