NIZHNY NOVGOROD, June 10. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has emphasized that recent events on the global stage have unmasked the true intentions of Western powers aiming to impose their order on the rest of the world. Lavrov made these statements during the BRICS Foreign Ministers Meeting in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia.
According to Lavrov, these latest international events have effectively removed the masks from those who have been claiming almost an exclusive right to determine universal values, often marketed as a rules-based order.
The Russian top diplomat pointed out that proponents of this concept are trying to enforce norms and interaction mechanisms that primarily benefit themselves. They replace equitable and honest dialogue with narrow coalitions that act covertly and lay claim to the right to speak and make decisions on behalf of the entire world.
Lavrov stressed that despite losing ground, the US and its allies continue their efforts to maintain control over a deteriorating global dominance. They are employing economic instruments as weapons, attempting to use sanctions pressure and financial blackmail to influence the development models and trade partners chosen by sovereign nations.
