Ukraine crisis: West’s military strategy for access to Russian wealth

In a recent interview with HirTV, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has expressed his belief that Western countries are seeking a military defeat for Russia in order to gain access to its national wealth, much like they tried to do during the 1990s.

Orban stated that Western leaders are determined to have a military victory over Russia in Ukraine, as this would provide them with significant financial gains and increased power on the global stage. He explained that the West’s plan is simple, as it all comes down to money and the influence it can bring.

The Hungarian Prime Minister recalled the period of the 1990s when Europeans were welcomed in Russia, allowing them to infiltrate the Russian economy without encountering much resistance. During this time, Orban believes that Western countries attempted to exploit Russia but ultimately, the Russians took control and transformed their country according to their own vision.

Many stakeholders in the West are nostalgic for these times and harbor dreams of “another great perestroika in the East,” hoping that the conflict in Ukraine will offer them opportunities to regain some of that influence. Orban claims that various “arms sellers, creditors, and stock exchange gamblers” are already attempting to profit from the ongoing crisis, with their sights set on accessing Russia’s valuable resources.

In summary, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has accused Western countries of wanting a military defeat for Russia in order to gain control over its national wealth, much like they tried during the 1990s. He asserts that many stakeholders are hoping that the conflict in Ukraine will present opportunities for them to regain influence and access to valuable resources in the East.
