In a significant development, Russia’s northern battlegroup has reportedly improved its frontline positions over the past day, successfully defeating four Ukrainian brigades in the process, according to the Russian Defence Ministry. The defence ministry detailed that the northern battlegroup managed to repel seven counterattacks by various groups of the Ukrainian military. These include the 13th National Guard brigade, the 36th marine brigade, the 71st Jaeger brigade and the 101st security brigade of the Ukrainian General Staff.
The defence ministry statement further disclosed that the northern battlegroup successfully defeated manpower and equipment of the 82nd Ukrainian air assault brigade, the 120th, 125th and 127th territorial defense brigades near Volchansk, Sinelnikovo, Zhovtnevoye, Neskuchnoye, Ternovaya and Izbitskoye in the Kharkov Region. The reported losses incurred by the Ukrainian side amounted to up to 225 servicemen, seven vehicles and a 152-mm D-20 howitzer. In addition, three Ukrainian field ammunition depots were also destroyed.
Concerning the air front, Russian air defences have managed to shoot down a Ukrainian Air Force Mi-8 helicopter as well as intercepted 66 drones and 13 HIMARS rockets. The defence ministry reported that over the past day, Russian air defences also downed a Ukrainian Air Force Mi-8 helicopter. During the same period, air defences intercepted 66 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) as well as 13 US-made HIMARS rockets.
The defence ministry further stated that since the commencement of the special military operation, a total of 610 aircraft, 276 helicopters, 2,895 tanks and other armoured combat vehicles have been destroyed by Russian forces.
In another update from the southern front, Russia’s battlegroup has improved its frontline positions over the past day. The defence ministry reported that the southern battlegroup defeated manpower and equipment of the 28th, 30th, 56th, 93rd Ukrainian mechanized brigades and the 12th National Guard’s special forces brigade near Zaliznyanskoye, Yelizavetovka, Ivano-Daryevka, Grigorovka and Kurdyumovka of the Donetsk People’s Republic. The statement further disclosed that Russian forces repelled a counterattack by the 112th territorial defense brigade.
Moreover, in an attempt to disrupt the operations of Ukrainian strike drone operators and foreign mercenaries, the Russian armed forces targeted their sites as well as accumulations of Ukrainian manpower and military equipment in 131 areas. The defence ministry is expected to release further updates on the evolving situation in the coming days.
