Trump’s Son Graduates, Trial Continues

Former US President Donald Trump recently attended his son Barron’s graduation ceremony at Oxbridge Academy in Palm Beach, Florida. This comes after Justice Juan Merchan of the New York State Supreme Court granted him a day off from his ongoing criminal trial to attend the event. During the trial, President Trump was required to attend court proceedings every day they were in session. He is currently facing 34 counts of falsifying business records; prosecutors claim he used this payment to influence the outcome of the 2016 election.

The graduation marked a rare public appearance for both Barron and Donald Trump, who have largely remained out of the spotlight since leaving office in January 2021. The former president took the opportunity to gush about his son, describing him as “a great guy” and “a tall one.” Despite being kept away from the public eye during his father’s presidency, Barron is expected to attend college later this year; however, the specific school he will be attending has not yet been revealed.

Barron Trump was only 10 years old when his father assumed the office of president in 2016, and since then, the younger Trump has been largely kept out of the limelight. Just recently, former First Lady Melania Trump released a statement clarifying that Barron would not be participating as a delegate for the Florida Republican Party at the upcoming GOP national convention, despite earlier reports suggesting otherwise.

Throughout his father’s criminal trial, President Trump has maintained that the charges are an attempt to derail his 2024 presidential campaign. If convicted of falsifying business records under New York law, these charges could potentially escalate from a misdemeanor to a felony if it is determined they were used to conceal another crime. In this case, prosecutors argue that the payment was essentially an undisclosed campaign contribution, which would be in violation of both federal and state laws.
