The Secret Weapon of the Right: How Conservatives Plan to Win the White House in 2024

PHOENIX, Ariz—Matthew Martinez was all smiles as he showed off the fruits of years of planning by his conservative organization, now ready for the 2024 cycle. Turning Point Action is focusing on young conservatives and aims to turn out Republicans who sat out the last two presidential elections. They have a goal of raising $108 million for their Chase the Vote initiative, which includes making GOP voters more comfortable with early voting, absentee voting, and other alternatives to same-day voting.

In Turning Point Action’s Phoenix headquarters, the workforce skewed young, in keeping with the organization’s focus on organizing and activating young conservatives. Mr. Martinez, a leader of the “Chase the Vote” initiative, is just 23 years old. He was proud to show off his meticulously subdivided maps to The Epoch Times.

The group’s chief operating officer, Tyler Bowyer, said that Turning Point Action was “handed the playbook” they are using by “defectors from the Left.” Although he declined to provide any names, Mr. Martinez noted that this approach is not a secret since Democrats have been doing it for years.

While Turning Point Action’s spokesman Andrew Kolvet said the group is concerned about races “up and down the ticket,” the Chase the Vote strategy seems geared towards winning the presidency, with a few Senate races made more competitive in the process. Mr. Martinez explained that even if they don’t flip Dane County, for example, they can definitely flip the state if they make sure that Republicans turn out to vote in Dane County, which is part of their “super chase” strategy.

Turning Point Action aims to raise $108 million for Chase the Vote, and Mr. Kolvet said the organization has already raised tens of millions of dollars, describing the $108 million figure as “aspirational.” They are also focusing on making GOP voters more comfortable with early voting, absentee voting, and other alternatives to same-day voting, which may be difficult given the controversy surrounding the 2020 election.

Yet, despite the challenges, Turning Point Action is optimistic that their initiative will make a significant impact in the upcoming elections. With a focus on “bodies on the ground” and sincere efforts to turn out Republican voters who sat out the last two presidential elections, they believe 2024 will be a test of their strategy’s effectiveness. If successful, this approach could reshape Republican thinking for years to come.
