Daycare Workers’ Melatonin Scandal Uncovered: Police Report

New Hampshire Day Care Workers Facing Charges for Melatonin Sprinkling.

In a shocking turn of events, the owner and three workers at a New Hampshire day care are currently facing charges after they were caught sprinkling melatonin in the food of children under their responsibility. The individuals involved are Sally Dreckmann, 52, the daycare owner; as well as Traci Innie, 51, Kaitlin Filardo, 23, and Jessica Foster, 23, all of Manchester. They have been charged with ten counts of endangering the welfare of a child by the Manchester Police Department.

The investigation began when authorities were informed about “unsafe practices” occurring at the daycare center in November 2023. It was discovered that children’s food being provided by the in-house daycare was being tampered with by including melatonin without the knowledge or consent of their parents. Melatonin is a sleep-aid and is generally considered safe for short-term use, as stated by the Mayo Clinic.

Heather Hamel, a spokesperson for the Manchester Police Department, told WDHD that this act raises significant concerns due to the potential risks involved in administering an over-the-counter drug like melatonin without parental permission or knowledge. Melatonin is commonly prescribed as a sleep aid; however, administering it to children without their parents’ approval is highly alarming.

Fortunately, police have reported that none of the affected children required medical attention after being exposed to the tampered food. The investigation is still ongoing, and further details may emerge in the coming weeks. In the meantime, the daycare center remains closed while authorities continue to assess the situation and its potential impact on the children involved.
