Identity politics” staked through Trump’s rally in the Bronx

The United States, often criticized for its history rooted in slavery, has made significant strides towards equality through wars and legislation like the Civil Rights Act. It has been assumed that minorities vote Democratic, but recent events have shown a shift in political alliances. Former President Donald Trump’s rally at Crotona Park in the Bronx was attended by a racially mixed crowd, showcasing a break from identity politics.

These politically charged ideologies, such as critical race theory and anti-racism, perpetuate racism by emphasizing race over character. To make society progress and preserve the American Dream, we must eliminate these identity politics. People should celebrate their heritage without allowing it to define them entirely. Instead, they should embrace their commonalities as citizens of a country founded on the principles of equality.

During Trump’s speech in the Bronx, he reached across the political aisle by offering to work together with Democratic Party officials, the governor, and city mayor to “Make New York Great Again.” While there are undoubtedly electoral motives at play, the former president’s actions have broader implications for the soul of our nation. As the election progresses, it is essential that we focus on unity and healing from the divisions that currently plague our society.
