Quebec Premier: Social Media Restrictions Possible

The premier’s recent statements seem to indicate a shift in his stance on the issue at hand. Earlier this month, he appeared uninterested when Paul St-Pierre Plamondon, leader of the Parti Québécois, proposed emulating the actions taken by governments in France and Florida that have prohibited children under 14 from opening social media accounts.

On another note, during a recent convention, multiple unions staged a protest outside the building where party members were assembled to criticize the government’s management of labor negotiations with the province’s workers. This demonstration was sparked by the rejection of a proposed agreement that had been endorsed by union leadership. The deal encompassed various provisions, such as general salary increases of at least 17.4 percent over a five-year period, new premiums for evening, night and weekend work, increased flexibility for workers to manage their own schedules, modifications to vacation day accumulation policies, and adjustments to seniority recognition, among many other measures.
